The new Maruti Suzuki Celerio launch is expected to happen sometime later this year and the new hatchback is a replacement for the AStar and the now defunct Estilo. The Celerio is basically the production spec A:Wind concept that was unveiled in later half of last year and the new car looks poised to become the next big thing in the carmaker’s product portfolio.
The Celerio will go on sale in as many as four variants- LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXI (O). Unlike what was being speculated earlier, the car does get basic safely equipment liks ABS and Airbags. While the ZXi trim gets driver’s side airbag and ABS< the ZXi Option trim gets dual front airbags and ABS.
The LXi and VXi trim also get the option of an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) variant. AMTs are cheaper than conventional auto transmissions and bestow the engine with better fuel efficiency. The new Celerio AMT variants have an ARAI certified fuel mileage of 23.1 kmpl.
Powering the new car is the same 3 cylinder K series 1.0 litre petrol engine that can be found under the hood of the Estio, AStar, Alto K10, and the WagonR. For the Celerio, this motor has a max power output of 68PS. We have always loved engine for its peppy nature and we expect similar performance for the Celerio.
Stay tuned to Motoroids for more updates on the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio and other details from the Auto Expo 2014.
